  • Vision

Aileen Getty established the Aileen Getty Foundation with the mission to cultivate a community where everyone is able to thrive and experience a sense of belonging. The Foundation takes a unique approach, trying to do the right thing, rather than focusing narrowly on metrics. In this way, the we seek to change the way we approach giving.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, was ever wasted. -Aesop

Kindness – We seek to infuse all we do with love, acceptance, and compassion. We use kindness to inform all of our interactions with our neighbors and with the earth.

Collective Action – Every member of the community is connected to every other member. We find solutions to challenges when we instill a sense of inclusion in every person.

Relationships – Relationships have the power to change lives and our world. We try to engage more significantly with each other, with the belief that systemic change will follow.

Sustainability – We help our partners achieve self-sufficiency and find lasting change by catalyzing donations from other funders, and providing programmatic guidance.

We believe that creating a sense of belonging is instrumental in assuring that we continue to make strides in advancing quality of life for every member of our community. Our aim is to go beyond traditional boundaries and provider-beneficiary relationships to ensure that each individual has a sense that he or she is genuinely accepted, cared for, and loved. The projects we fund and the partnerships we join are practical, innovative, and joyful expressions of this belief.
